2. Purpose and acceptance
Accessing the iris.lugus.digital website or using any of the iRiS Services implies acceptance of these terms in the version published at that time. If you do not agree with them, please do not use them.
The specific conditions of each licence — number of users, duration, included services and price — are set out in the contract, proposal or tender signed with the school, which prevails over these terms in the event of any discrepancy.
3. The iRiS Services
iRiS is a solution for schools that work with Google for Education and Chromebook, made up of:
- iRiS School: Chrome extension for students' Chromebooks, with the Escudo Web Internet filter.
- iRiS Teacher: classroom manager for teachers, including the learning path.
- iRiS Dashboard: web console for the school's IT administrators.
- iRiS Parental Interaction: Android and iOS app with which families configure their children's school Chromebook outside school hours, only if the school enables it.
4. Who may use iRiS
iRiS is licensed to schools and educational organisations. It may be used by the people the school gives access to: students, teachers, IT administrators and, if the school so decides, parents and legal guardians.
The school is responsible for informing users, obtaining the necessary consents — especially those relating to minors — and configuring iRiS features in line with its educational project and applicable law.
5. Conditions of use
Users undertake to use iRiS diligently and lawfully, in accordance with the law, good faith and these terms. In particular, they shall refrain from:
- Using iRiS for unlawful purposes, in a way that harms the rights of others, or outside the educational setting for which it is licensed.
- Attempting to disable, bypass or tamper with iRiS on school devices without authorisation.
- Accessing other people's accounts, data or devices without authorisation.
- Introducing viruses, malicious code or anything that may damage the systems of Escudo Web, the school or third parties.
- Copying, decompiling, modifying or reverse-engineering the software, except where permitted by law.
Escudo Web may suspend access for anyone who breaches these conditions, informing the school accordingly.
6. Accounts and credentials
iRiS School, iRiS Teacher and iRiS Dashboard are accessed with the school accounts managed by the school (Google Workspace for Education). iRiS Parental Interaction is accessed with the email address provided by the school and a PIN code.
Each user is responsible for keeping their credentials confidential. If you suspect someone knows them, change them and tell your school.
7. Subscription, support and updates
iRiS is sold as an annual subscription which includes, under the terms of the contract with each school:
- Technical support for the school throughout the subscription.
- Ongoing training for IT administrators.
- Training for teachers and families once a year.
- Continuous software updates.
Escudo Web may add, change or withdraw features to improve the service, adapt it to technological or regulatory changes or strengthen its security, while seeking not to substantially reduce the contracted features during the subscription.
8. Intellectual and industrial property
The iRiS software, the iris.lugus.digital website and all their contents — text, images, design, source code and databases — are owned by Escudo Web Software, S.L. or by third parties who have authorised their use, and are protected by intellectual and industrial property law.
iRiS® is a registered trademark of Grupo Edelvives. The licence grants the school a non-exclusive, non-transferable right of use during the subscription and conveys no other right over the software or the trademark.
Third-party names — such as Google, Chrome, Chromebook™ (a trademark of Google LLC), Android or iOS — are mentioned for information only and belong to their respective owners.
9. Availability and disclaimer
Escudo Web works to keep iRiS available continuously and securely, but cannot guarantee that it will be completely free of interruptions or errors. It may temporarily suspend the service for maintenance, updates or security, seeking to notify the school in advance.
No Internet filter can guarantee that all unsuitable content is blocked: Escudo Web updates the filter continuously, but it may take some time before a new website is classified. The filter is a support tool and does not replace educational or family supervision.
Escudo Web shall not be liable for incidents caused by factors beyond its control, such as failures of the Internet connection, devices or third-party services, nor for misuse of iRiS by users. In all other respects, Escudo Web's liability shall be governed by the contract with the school.
10. Personal data protection
The processing of personal data on the website and in the iRiS Services is governed by our Privacy Policy and, for each school, by its data processing agreement, drawn up in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD).
11. Changes
Escudo Web may amend these terms to reflect regulatory changes or changes in its activity. Amendments take effect from their publication on this page. If they materially affect the iRiS Services, schools will be informed.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Spanish law. For the resolution of any dispute, the parties submit to the courts of the owner's registered address, unless applicable law establishes a different mandatory jurisdiction.
